Wolfgang Schmidt served as Germany's Federal Minister for Special Tasks, Head of the Federal Chancellery, and Commissioner for the Intelligence Services from 2021 to 2025, coordinating the federal government's work under Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Through his firm WWS Advisory GmbH, he now advises companies, investors, and founders on how geopolitical shifts shape business decisions, from transatlantic security and technology to energy and AI governance. He is a Council Member of the European Council on Foreign Relations and serves on several international advisory boards. A lawyer by training, he lives in Berlin.
