Oktoberfest Style Day 3

Want to stand out? Lean into the local spirit.

Bavarian Tracht: Lederhosen for men, Dirndls for women
Dressing up is optional, but the easiest way to soak up the Oktoberfest magic.

Our Tracht Guide
For You

Attending Bits & Pretzels in late September means you’ll be in Munich right at the heart of Oktoberfest season!
Many attendees choose to wear traditional Bavarian Tracht especially if they plan to visit the Oktoberfest tents. Wearing Tracht is not mandatory, but it’s a fun way to experience local culture and connect with the city.

Pick the Perfect Tracht

Authentic Tracht is high-quality, elegant, and timeless. A well-made dirndl or lederhosen set not only looks stylish at Oktoberfest but also feels completely appropriate in a professional, international business setting like Bits & Pretzels.

However, not all Oktoberfest outfits are created equal. Here’s how to spot quality:

Dirndl:

Look for sturdy fabrics (cotton, linen, silk blends), a well-fitted bodice, and apron length that hits at or below the knee. Avoid overly short “party dirndls,” which are considered inauthentic.

Avoid: overly short “party dirndls”

Lederhosen:

Authentic lederhosen are made of genuine leather (goat, deer, or cowhide). They should feel sturdy and come with embroidery. Avoid cheap costume versions made of thin fabric or faux leather.

Accessories:

Traditional blouses, vests, hats, and knee socks elevate the look. Sneakers or flashy accessories break the authentic style.
