Sebastian Matthes has been Editor-in-Chief of Handelsblatt since early 2021. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the business newspaper from 2018. Before joining Handelsblatt, Matthes built up the German edition of the Huffington Post.
Before moving to HuffPost in Munich, Matthes had already spent five years in Düsseldorf, where he served as a department head at WirtschaftsWoche. During this time, he focused extensively on innovation policy, digitalization, and the green transformation of the economy.
Matthes studied political science and economics in Hamburg before completing the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalism.
