Dr. Fabian Riedel studied law at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and earned his doctorate from the University of Potsdam. He worked as a corporate lawyer until 2019, but his entrepreneurial journey began much earlier: in 2012, he immersed himself in the aquaculture sector and founded Crusta Nova that same year. The seafood brand HONEST CATCH emerged from the company in 2023. In 2016, he launched what the company describes as Germany’s first premium shrimp from land-based aquaculture.

Since February 2023, he has served as CEO of Oceanloop, where he is responsible for sales, fundraising and international expansion. He secured the company’s venture debt facility from the European Investment Bank, represented Oceanloop at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2025, and announced financing of up to €38.5 million in August 2026 to launch the company’s industrial-scale expansion.
