Markus has more than 25 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, and infrastructure. Starting his career as an Investment Manager for a VC investor, he joined the EIF in 2006, initially working in the investment team with a focus on VC and PE fund investments in Germany, and later holding various leadership positions in both front‑ and middle‑office functions. Before taking over the EIF representation in Germany in mid‑2025, he spent seven years as a member of the EIF management team, first as Chief Operating Officer and most recently as Chief Financial and Strategy Officer. Markus is a trained biologist and earned his PhD in the field of molecular cell and neurobiology.
