Professor of Computer Vision & AI, TUM | Serial Entrepreneur | AI & 3D Vision Pioneer Prof. Dr. Daniel Cremers is Professor of Computer Vision & AI at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he leads one of Europe’s leading research groups in 3D computer vision and artificial intelligence. His research focuses on technologies that enable machines to understand and navigate the physical world, with applications ranging from autonomous vehicles and drones to robotics and medical technology. A serial entrepreneur and technology builder, Cremers has been instrumental in translating cutting-edge computer vision research into successful companies and products. His entrepreneurial activities include Artisense, a pioneer in visual perception and localization for autonomous systems; SE3 Labs, focused on advanced 3D computer vision and spatial intelligence technologies; and contributions to the development of Skydio, a leading company in autonomous drones. He is also involved with ABLACON, bringing advanced computational imaging technologies to medical imaging. Cremers has co-founded and advised technology companies, worked closely with industrial partners, and helped transfer fundamental research from the laboratory into real-world applications. His work combines deep-tech research, entrepreneurship, venture creation, and industrial innovation. He has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers and received numerous international awards, including the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize and the Koenderink Test of Time Award. He is a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities. He is Director of the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML), the Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI), and ELLIS Munich. And he serves as President of the European Computer Vision Association.
