About:

Luca joined Accel in 2018 and focuses on fintech, marketplaces, consumer, commerce infrastructure and workflow automation. He has a particular interest in next generation product-first businesses. Since joining the Accel team, Luca has led Accel’s investment in BRYTER, Charles, Insify, Lydia, Qogita, SLAY, Swan, Synthflow AI, Tines, Nory, Trade Republic and Vinted among others. He also helped lead Accel’s investment and ongoing work in sennder and Soldo. Prior to Accel, Luca was with H14. Here, he helped build the early stage practice and invested in global opportunities such as Contentsquare, Deliveroo, GetYourGuide, Flixbus and SumUp. He started his career at Bain & Co. Luca is from Italy and graduated from LIUC University.

Vinted: Navigating going from zero to hero to zero to global, category-defining leader
Today, Vinted is a global leader that has pioneered the C2C second-hand fashion marketplace sector globally. The company is present across the whole of Europe, has global ambitions, became Lithuania’s first unicorn in 2019, hit a €5B valuation last year and now employs more than 2,000 people. Last year, Vinted also reported a net profit of €76.7M, which was an increase of 330% over 2023. But the journey from its founding in 2008 to the category defining business it is today hasn’t all been plain sailing. For the first five years, Vinted saw rocketing user growth and office openings in London, Paris and San Francisco. Then they started charging a seller’s commission fee and sellers left the platform in their droves. A year and a half later, the company was burning $1M per month and only had around nine months of runway left. Following many tough decisions, a new business model and a big bet on TV adverts, the company started to break even and the rocket ship was back on track. In this discussion, Vinted co-founder Mantas Mikuckas and Luca Bocchio, Partner at Accel, will cover how the Vinted team navigated the challenges of going from zero to hero and then back to zero again. How did the co-founders and leadership team approach decision making around business models, advertising spend and talent, what are the learnings for the next generation of founders and what is Mantas' advice on building and scaling companies out of Europe.

Upload Guidelines for Presentations
If you have a presentation, please ensure that you submit your materials/files in a single zip folder containing the following:

1. Presentation File:

  • Keynote file 16:9 (1920x1080px) or PowerPoint file (.pptx, 1920x1080px).
  • Please make sure all fonts and videos are embedded within the file, if applicable.

2. PDF File:

  • A PDF version of your presentation with all fonts embedded.

3. Fonts:

  • Any custom fonts used in your presentation (please include the font files).

4. Videos:

  • All videos included in the presentation must also be provided separately.
  • Format: 16:9 aspect ratio, 1920x1080px (Full HD).
  • File type: MP4 or .m4v.
Deadline: All presentation materials must be submitted no later than September 24, 2025.
This is necessary to allow our technical team to review and test the presentations in advance.
