How Delivery Hero is transforming online food delivery

Hear Niklas Östberg talk about virtual reality e-commerce at the Bits & Pretzels Networking Week

Founding a startup consumes a lot of time. So much, that sometimes, there is not even time to cook by yourself. That’s a problem Niklas Östberg was facing. His solution? Starting Delivery Hero! Today the company is one of the leading global businesses in online food ordering. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company’s revenue even increased by 92% year-on-year, according to its financial report.

The 39-year-old swedish founder perfectly demonstrated how to grow a business in a crisis. “The pandemic has led to quick recovery and acceleration of our service offering, responding to changing customer behavior and larger demand for online delivery”, explains Östberg in the financial report.

From his early days, Niklas Östberg has always been a visionary and had a talent in spotting new trends. In May 2011, together with his founding team, he started working on their vision of the future for online food ordering. Since then their team has grown to 25.000 employees, 1,500 of which are located in their Berlin HQ. At the moment they serve 40 markets worldwide.

Delivery Hero aims to continuously transform the way people order food online. Niklas Östberg predicts a future in which ordering food will be much cheaper, healthier and more delicious than cooking by oneself. He even thinks about using virtual reality to improve the customer experience. Using VR-glasses the one could get an impression of the restaurant he wants to order from.

Don’t miss the chance to meet CEO Niklas Östberg as a speaker at the upcoming Bits & Pretzels Networking Week (Sept 27th to Oct 2nd), at our Meet The Leaders track, where he is going to share the key figures of his company and give insights into the business strategies of Delivery Hero.
