Vertical Facts
What is a vertical?

A vertical is an industry vertical or a hot-topic you really care about and you want to claim thought leadership for. Your sponsorship enables you to host 2 hours of dedicated content for our tech-positive audience on one of our stages. You can plan keynotes, formats, and invite speakers in close collaboration with our program experts.

Already defined verticals 2022

(Titles might not be final)

Connected World by Vodafone UPLIFT
Future of Impact by BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt
Future of Life Science by Life Science Factory Göttingen
Future of E-Commerce by Adyen
Future of Work by Workday
Future of Security by Okta

Example Agenda

Every vertical consists of two content blocks. Those are two hours of your content and one hour of startup pitches. The pitches are organized by Bits & Pretzels. We will select 10 startups from your respective vertical to pitch. The winner will qualify for the pitch final at the end of Bits & Pretzels.

Vertical Content (Example)

14:00 - 14:10      Introduction part to welcome guests

14:10 - 14:30      Keynote on topic 1

14:30 - 15:00     Fireside chat on topic 2

15:00 - 15:15      Lightning talks on topic 3

15:15 - 15:45      Panel discussion on topic 4

15:45 - 16:00    Attendee questions and transition to pitches

Pitch Content

16:00 - 17:00     Semi-Final Pitches

‍

Half of the verticals at Bits & Pretzels will begin with the pitches, the other half will end with the pitches. This way we ensure that there aren't pitches simultaneously.

The perfect team on site

To present your content in the best way possible it needs a great team fulfilling different roles. Some of its members will be provided from Bits & Pretzels and some of the members will be provided by your side.

Bits & Pretzels Team at your stage
Stage Manager

The stage manager is your first contact point at your stage. He/She is your link to the technicians or the Bits & Pretzels core team for any last minute questions that might come up and supports your director to create the perfect experience.

Technicians

Our technicians will take care that your speakers have the microphones they need. They are also in charge of the light and audio systems of your stage.

Your team at your stage
Event Manager / Director

There has to be one person who knows everything about your program. This person has contact with all your speakers, knows all the presentations, and can decide if changes have to been made on the fly. In cooperation with the stage manager this person runs the show.

Moderator / Host

We recommend that you have somebody who leads the audience through your program. This person can be from your company or a professional, whatever you prefer.

For the moderation of the pitches we will provide a host.

Presentations

From years of experience in organizing conferences we strongly believe that using your own computer for presentations is the best way to go.

Provide a single computer that contains all media & presentations of your vertical.

Advantages of a laptop computer your company owns
  • You don't have to save sensitive data or presentations on hardware that doesn't belong to your company
  • You can test presentations on the very computer that will be used to show them to the audience. That way you can be sure that all corporate fonts are available, the necessary software is already installed, and that you are showing the latest version of your presentations.
Hardware requirements

We recommend to provide a computer that can be connected via a HDMI connector (otherwise please provide an adapter). Further requirements are defined by the content you are intending to show during your vertical. Please test before the event if everything is running as intended.

Please do not forget to bring a power supply.

Presentation format

The format of the presentation (Powerpoint, Keynote, Prezi, etc.) is entirely up to you, as long as you have the necessary software on your computer to show the content.

Nevertheless, the screens for the projection of your content are set up in a 16:9 format. Therefore, design your presentations in a 16:9 Full-HD format (1920px : 1080px).

Rehearsals / Recording
Time for rehearsals

Due the tight agenda during Bits & Pretzels there are no time slots available for rehearsals at the event days. Expect your stage to be ready one hour before the start of your vertical. All your speakers should arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of your slot.

In case of your vertical is starting with the pitches, please ensure to arrive before the begin of the pitches. To keep the audience involved and prevent it from leaving your stage we recommend to keep the break between the two content blocks to a minimum. The best solution is to have a fluid transition with no break at all.

Stage check

To give you the chance to see your stage before the event starts, you can arrange a time slot on Wednesday, 19 January - between 17:00 and 19:00. Please contact andreas.schreitt@bitsandpretzels.com.

Recording / Streaming

The vertical stages will neither be recorded nor streamed.

Tickets for speakers
Tickets

Please ensure to allocate tickets for each speaker from your sponsorship package.

Speaker Form
Why do we need information about your speakers?

The 10 commandments

One of the main goals of Bits & Pretzels is to inspire our attendees and give them deeper insights into the latest trends in tech as well as giving them the opportunity to hear some of the most breathtaking founders stories to date.To avoid boring talks and help you get more publicity, these 10 tips are a perfect guideline for a great Bits & Pretzels talk. Please take your time and read carefully.

‍

  1. Reach for the Stars
Aim to deliver an unparalleled and truly amazing speech. Reveal something big. Be memorable. Be awesome.
    ‍
  2. Don’t read your speech
Notes are great. Free and unscripted speech is more powerful.
    ‍
  3. Practice makes perfect
Rehearsing is the best way to deliver your best speech and to help you test the length.
    ‍
  4. Be punctual
By running over we’ll have less time for our other great speakers. Thus, make sure you keep it within the allotted time.
    ‍
  5. Don’t try and sell on stage
Bits & Pretzels will give you ample time to network and ultimately helping you to sell more of your product. Therefore, selling on stage is not allowed.
    ‍
  6. Don’t Boast
Bragging is one of the surest ways to switch off your audience and keep them from getting your intended message.
    ‍
  7. Appeal to people's emotions
Emotions are powerful things, use them to your advantage in your speech for a truly incredible result.
    ‍
  8. Simplicity
Frame your speech in a logical way and simple enough that everyone will understand it. This will help make your speech that much more impactful. Give examples, explain through stories, make it clear.
    ‍
  9. Be Yourself
Let your personality shine through. Show your dreams, your visions…. Or your fears. Be vulnerable. Speak about failures or about successes. Be open. Be yourself.
    ‍
  10. Be creative
Innovation and experimentation are part of what makes entrepreneurship great. Use imagery or metaphors to help the audience picture your speech and stay involved.
